POSITION SUMMARY:


Sales Associates are a unique team of individuals who are responsible for maximizing store sales by having thorough product knowledge and ensuring that each customer is provided a well-rounded, superior customer service experience. Sales Asowill also be responsible for fulfilling customer demands, paint orders, mixing, and tinting paint, and paint deliveries when need be. The position may also need to be able to work in the department independently.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Provides a branded and inviting first impression for customers by making sure all areas of the store are presentable at all times. Embodies the City Mill tidy, clean and neat image.


  • Provides fast and friendly service with a sense of urgency. Provides attentive, courteous, and professional service while maintaining a high-level of product knowledge and services with Rainbow State Paints and balancing day-to-day tasks.


  • Possesses strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to multi-task daily tasks (stocking, zoning, merchandising etc.) with customer service demands.


  • Open and close Rainbow State Paint Department and till


  • Order, receive and stock paint and sundries in an efficient matter, as well as help receive orders and unload deliveries.


  • Assist customers with colors, paint selections, etc using Rainbow State product knowledge to the best of your ability as well as suggesting additional products they may need such as brushes to make additional sales.


  • Tint paint and do color matches, brush outs for contractors and architects, etc.


  • Take phone orders and process orders as well as assist managers with outside sales calls.


  • Provides solutions and recommends display and product improvements based upon customer trends to increase sales.


  • Maintains flexibility in learning other functions throughout the store. Committed to continuous training and development of skills including but not limited to product knowledge and selling strategies.


  • Assists with back-up cashiering when needed. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of cashiering and POS functions.


  • Monitors all sales space for proper replenishing of merchandise. In accordance with procedures, replaces merchandise as appropriate to the level of sales. Checks to make sure that appropriate merchandise is properly marked with price tags or SKU numbers. Notifies management when products are in need of reordering.


  • Flexibility to take on more tasks to help in other departments, serve as a back-up cashier, screen orders, merchandise transfers and other tasks needed by store operations. Assists with “Buy Online, Pick-up In Store” orders.


  • Protect company assets by following all policies and procedures. (Cashiering procedures, Internal and External Theft, etc.


  • Takes on additional tasks as needed.


OTHER FUNCTIONS:


  • Provide customer assistance with lifting/ carrying large or bulky items.


  • Provides assistance to other team members as needed. Demonstrates teamwork at all times.


  • Assists with training other team members as needed and may assist with on-boarding new team members as a training “Buddy”.


  • Make deliveries when needed of paint and brush-outs.


  • Actively participate in all Rainbow State Paint trainings and its suppliers.


  • Must have reliable transportation as well as being willing and able to commute between store locations if need be.


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • High school degree or equivalent.


  • Minimum of twelve months of equivalent experience in a related field required (e.g. Customer Service, Retail, Sales, etc.).

OTHER SKILLS:


  • Excellent customer service and telephone skills


  • Maintain a high energy level, be outgoing and sociable, and have the ability to approach customers with enthusiastic and friendly service.


  • Must be able to maintain a positive disposition, even when faced with difficult situations.


  • Adheres to company safety and security procedures at all times.


  • Ability to work effectively and think quickly and soundly under pressure and maintain a high degree of judgment, especially when assisting customers with unusual or infrequent requests. Must be able to work effectively with difficult customers and work effectively with distractions.


  • Well-organized and attentive to detail. Must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines and take initiative.


  • Proven ability to work with mathematical concepts. Must be able to cashier with accuracy, balance register at the end of each shift in a timely manner.


  • Although not required, it would be beneficial for employee to have a good eye for paint matching and attention to detail.

This position reports directly to the Rainbow State Paint Store Manager. On a daily basis, this position interacts with external and internal customers including, managers and team members within various departments of the organization. Additionally, this position may have interaction with related industry vendors and consultants.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:


This position works in a retail store environment with the following characteristics:

Air conditioning and/or No Air Conditioning, Fluorescent lighting, Moderate noise level, Dust, Fumes, Chemicals, Paint


While the company will strive to provide advance notice of all work schedules, this position will be required to work a varied schedule to include nights , weekends and holidays as the workload dictates. No Sales Associate is guaranteed a specific shift, day of the week, or number of hours per week.
